Phoenix weather: Warmest temps of the season arrive for the weekendPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- We’re ringing the month of March with unseasonably warm weather across Arizona. A normal afternoon high for the Valley this time of year is 73. Friday’s temperatures will top out at 79, with the low 80s moving in for Saturday.
High pressure is helping make the magic happen, and those cool northerly winds we had over the past couple of days are out of here.
Expect abundant sunshine both Friday and Saturday, but a change in scenery on Sunday. Clouds will increase across the state Sunday as a disturbance brushes to our north, allowing a southwesterly flow pull in some moisture from the Pacific. Most areas should stay rain-free with the exception of a few showers developing in the mountains Sunday afternoon and evening. Despite the cloud cover, highs in the Valley should remain in the 80s.
Sunshine will return for Monday and should stick around through at least midweek, with occasional high thin clouds sweeping across the area. Each day, Valley high temperatures are expected to reach at least 80.
By late next week, models indicate a low-pressure system riding in from the west will change our weather pattern. For now, the current thinking is temperatures will take a dive back into the 70s in the Valley for Thursday. It’s too early to tell though if we will see any rain, how much, or stay completely dry.
