PHOENIX -- Even though there's still a chill in the air, summer is right around the corner. But don't sweat it! A new procedure is helping folks eliminate embarrassing and excessive sweat.

The procedure is called miraDry, and there's only one place in the Valley to get it.

For women like Bridgette Esposito, excessive sweat has been a burden for years.

"As a teenager, I would notice I would sweat a lot," she says. "It didn't have anything to do with whether i was over-exerting myself, exercising, running around, cleaning, it didn't matter. I could be sitting in a cool room and I would still sweat."

Esposito, like many women, has a condition called hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating. Until now she had few options to help her, including prescription antiperspirants, deodorants, or even Botox injections.

It's something any of us living in the valley can relate to. And now, all of us can do something about it, thanks to a procedure called miraDry.

"It's a non-invasive way to kill those sweat glands and completely get rid of sweating," says Elizabeth Walter of Phoenix Skin.

The miraDry procedure uses the only non-invasive technology that is FDA cleared to provide lasting results. The procedure uses precisely controlled energy to actually eliminate underarm sweat glands.  Because the sweat glands don’t grow back once eliminated, the results are dramatic and lasting.

"The sweat reduction is immediate," Walter says. "Patients are telling us the next day they're not sweating."

What about pain and discomfort? Walter says there's very little. "Everyone will have some swelling, some discomfort, but our patients can go back to work that same day or the next day," she says

Those who've had it done says it's a small price for a big gain.

"I've had button down tops, even business attire that doesn't have to be black, or i don't have to have a vest over," says patient Espositio. "So far, so good. I'm happy."

The procedure is said to be safe for just about anyone. but it doesn't come cheap. The first treatment can fun around $2,000. A follow-up treatment can cost a another thousand.
