Sportmen's Expo draws outdoor enthusiasts from all over ArizonaPosted: Updated:
GLENDALE, Ariz. -- It’s an outdoorsman’s dream – in the big city. The International Sportsmen’s Exposition (ISE) is taking over University of Phoenix Stadium until Sunday and providing the best and latest equipment and services for anyone who loves the outdoors.
“Many of our exhibitors over the last decade have transitioned from doing just hunting or fishing to doing hunting, fishing, boat trips, horseback riding, rafting…” said John Kirk, the director of communications for ISE. “We pretty much offer the whole spectrum of outdoor activities here.”
ISE provides entertainment and services that are both fun and affordable.
“We have to be very selective on how we spend our dollar and when we spend it and we’ve tried to make the show very economical for families,” said Kirk.
A seasoned outdoor adventurer or someone looking for more information on outdoor activities can benefit from attending the expo.
“Probably the thing that people like most is that there are lots of hands-on activities so people can come and explore various sports, see if they like them, and perhaps even buy the products and even purchase a trip at the show,” Kirk added.
Kids can join in on the fun and try out the catch-and-release fishing pond, archery and shooting ranges, and off-roading RC race tracks. They also get the additional benefit of learning about the safe practices of all outdoor activities.
This is an all-day event, but guests will be willing to stick around when they have family, fun, and of course food! If you are not sold on popcorn and nachos, opt for something a little more adventurous.
“Dead Meat” host and Chef Scott Leysath was in the middle of cooking up rabbit rattlesnake sausage, a dish that Leysath said caused some pretty nervous reaction.
“It’s like a reflex, it’s as if there’s a live rattlesnake in front of them but I promise that you’ve had worse things in your sausage, if you’ve eaten sausage, than rabbit or rattlesnake,” he said.
The International Sportsmen’s Expo will be at University of Phoenix Stadium until Sunday. Tickets cost $12 for adults. Active military and youth ages 16 and younger are free. Parking is also free for the event.
