Phoenix weather: Changes ahead

Posted: Updated:

PHOENIX -- Two storms are set to change the Valley's so-far warm and sunny week.

Today, a weak weather disturbance moves through the state. While a sprinkle is possible for the higher elevations to the north and east of town, the Valley will see mostly cloudy skies for part of today before the clouds move out by this evening.

Still, under partly sunny skies we'll warm up to the low 70s.  Overnight lows will dip to the 40s and low 50s by tomorrow morning.

A stronger storm moves our way Friday.

It's currently spinning off the coast of the Pacific Northwest, but will move down through the Great Basin and towards the desert Southwest by the end of this week.

Rain and snow chances begin Friday night and continue through the weekend.  In the Valley, look for a 20-percent chance of showers Saturday, and high temperatures this weekend only in the 50s.  Overnight lows will dip to the 30s and 40s.

Snow levels in the high country should be fairly low, although forecast amounts are tough to nail down this far out.
