Phoenix weather: Soggy start to new week

Posted: Updated:

PHOENIX -- A winter storm is bringing more rain to Arizona, following what was a very wet weekend.

Record rain fell in parts of the state, including Phoenix, over the weekend. The storm system responsible for that rain moved out by late Sunday, quickly replaced by another, colder storm.

A cold front began moving through Arizona overnight, producing snow showers in Northern Arizona that spread east to the Rim Country by dawn. Snow should continue to fall in the mountains throughout the day, where a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect through this evening.

By tonight, the showers taper off, and the threat of rain in the Valley disappears, too.

Look for breezy conditions today with a high of about 60 in the Valley. Overnight lows will dip to the low 30s to low 40s across town.

Tomorrow, we'll see mostly sunny skies, but conditions remain cool with a high of just 57 degrees.

No more rain is expected this week, and temperatures should be in the low 70s by Thursday and the mid 70s by the weekend.
