Phoenix weather: Wet weather arrivesPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Arizona is in for a couple of days of wet and cooler weather as a series of storms moves into our region.
Valley residents saw rain on the Thursday morning commute, while the thick cloud cover kept temperatures mild in the 50s and 60s.
This afternoon, look for highs in the mid 70s and a chance for more light rain.
The main portion of the storm moves west to east across Arizona tomorrow and Saturday, leading to increased rain chances in the Valley. The Phoenix area could pick up between 0.5 inch and 1 inch of rain between late Friday and Saturday, and temperatures this weekend will only peak in the 60s.
Snow levels should stay fairly high, near 9,000 feet, with this storm, so more rain than snow is expected to fall in the high country.
However, a colder storm arrives Monday and is expected to blanket the high country with snow early next week. That same storm could bring more rain to the Valley and a big drop in temperatures for the start of next week.
At this point, it looks like the storm will clear out in time for the first rounds of the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
