PHOENIX -- Interstate 10 westbound was closed at State Route 143 for several hours on Wednesday after a truck hauling raw sewage rolled over and began leaking some of its cargo.

According to officials with the Arizona Department of Public Safety and the Arizona Department of Transportation, the truck collided with a passenger car.

There were no serious injuries.

Traffic in the area was backed up for miles following the collision.

During the closure, all westbound traffic on I-10 was detoured onto SR 143 northbound as ADOT and DPS responded.
