Phoenix weather: Warm Wednesday aheadPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- The Valley will be treated to warmer-than-average temperatures today, just a day before an arctic blast moves into the state. Look for mostly sunny skies today and an afternoon high of about 70 degrees. Overnight lows should dip to the mid 30s to mid 40s Thursday morning.
A cold front moves into Arizona Thursday, driving breezy conditions in the Valley and stronger southwesterly winds in the high country. Snow could begin falling as early as Thursday afternoon in the high country, with accumulations between 3 inches to a foot expected Thursday night and Friday.
The Valley could see rain Thursday night and Friday morning, but rainfall totals are expected to be light.
The storm will usher in a cold air mass from Canada. Over the weekend, sunshine is expected to return, but afternoon highs will only top out in the low 50s. Overnight lows should plummet to the 20s across the Valley.
Subfreezing temperatures could continue into next week as well.
