YUMA, Ariz. -- A Yuma teenager was able to prevent the attempted kidnapping of her younger sister Monday afternoon, according to officials.
The 17-year-old girl was walking her 6-year-old sister from the bus stop when a man approached them near May Avenue and Eighth Street, according to the Yuma County Sheriff's Office.
The juveniles reported that the suspect attempted to pull the younger girl away from her sister. The teen hit the suspect in the face with her keys and he ran off, holding his face in his hands.
The suspect is described as a white male in his mid-20s to early 30s with blond hair, blue eyes, between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet 1 inch tall, and weighing approximately 175 to 200 pounds. He has a tattoo on his left arm just above or below the elbow on the inside of his forearm. The tattoo was possibly of a bird or a bat as the juveniles described it as something having wings.
The girls were not injured in the attack.
