COTTONWOOD, Ariz. -- Two juveniles are accused of damaging basketball backboards at Cottonwood's Mingus Union High School.

The 12-year-old boy from Sedona and 14-year-old Cottonwood boy were arrested and face charges of aggravated criminal damage. Both were referred to Yavapai County Juvenile Court.

Gary Eisenga with the Cottonwood Police Department said officers responded to the school Friday evening and found three broken backboards.

The officers spoke with four juveniles at the scene. One of the juveniles said he and another witness were playing basketball with the two suspects. He said one backboard was broken prior to their arrival and the suspects began throwing rocks at the other two backboards until they were broken.

The witness said the suspects threw the rocks over the chain-link fence before police arrived.

The glass backboards have a value of less than $1,000.
