SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. -- The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office said a female motorist was impaired when she crashed her vehicle into a metal power pole Friday night and died.

Witnesses told PCSO that Donna Love, 47, first struck a tree near Bella Vista Road and Hunt Highway.

Love continued driving after hitting the tree, and was reportedly driving through dirt on the right side of the road while trying to pass other vehicles.

According to PCSO, Love was traveling between 70 and 80 miles per hour when her Toyota 4 Runner struck the power pole on Bella Vista Road near Quail Run Lane.

Love, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu said evidence at the scene indicated that Love was under the influence of alcohol and prescription drugs at the time of the crash.
