TOLLESON, Ariz. – Police continue to search for the man responsible for robbing a Tolleson bank on Saturday morning.
According to authorities, the suspect was armed when he stole money from the Bank of the West off 95th Avenue and Van Buren.
Police said the man entered the building, ordered everyone on the ground, and then handed a bag to a teller and demanded money.
Scott Messec was making a deposit at the time of the robbery and said the suspect appeared to know one of the bank employees.
“The teller gave him the money and he walked around and told the loan officer ‘thanks Roy,’” recalled Messec.
Messec added that he heard the suspect fire a round from his assault rifle before eventually fleeing the scene.
“I was just glad I made it out alive,” said Messec.
Police searched the area with the help of K-9 dogs, but were unable to find the suspect.
