1 Man dead, 1 critical after rollover in GlendalePosted: Updated:
GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Speed and alcohol are being investigated as possible contributing factors in a fatal accident in Glendale late Sunday night.
Police officers responded to a single-vehicle injury accident in the area of 83rd Avenue and Bell Road around midnight.
According to Glendale police spokeswoman Tracey Breeden, a Chevrolet pickup truck was southbound on 83rd Avenue when it struck a median and the 23-year-old male driver lost control. The truck ran off the roadway and into an empty lot.
The pickup rolled over and two adult male passengers who were not wearing seat belts were ejected.
The middle passenger, identified as a 52-year-old Peoria resident, was airlifted to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. His name has not been released.
A 32-year-old Peoria resident who was the right passenger sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he is in critical condition.
The driver was not injured and refused medical treatment.
Detectives from the Glendale Police Vehicle Crimes Unit have assumed the investigation.
