PEORIA, Ariz. -- An Avondale man is behind bars for allegedly shooting and killing a man on Friday afternoon.

Peoria Police said they’ve arrested Anthony Fuentes, 34, on charges of first-degree murder, kidnapping and armed robbery.

Detectives responded to the area of 87th Avenue and Grovers just after 12:30 p.m. Friday in response to a shooting.

Authorities located the victim, 42-year-old Tory Hayes, outside the home near the road suffering from gunshot wounds.

Hayes was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

Investigators discovered that Hayes had been visiting friends when Fuentes stopped by the house and got into an altercation with the people who were there.

Hayes reportedly tried to leave the house and get into his vehicle, but was shot by Fuentes.

Fuentes left the scene in Hayes’ vehicle, and abandoned the car in a parking lot about a mile away.

Police were able to identify Fuentes as the suspect and arrested him Friday night at his Avondale home.
