PHOENIX -- While walking through the steady stream of shoppers, picking up last minute treasures at Paradise Valley Mall this Christmas Eve, Chris Arnold could be spotted, sneaking a break as his daughter browsed the racks.

It's no surprise he needed a minute.

"I've been working a lot of hours, my daughter just came into town, we're going to a Christmas party tonight, and I have nothing," said Arnold.

The last minute shopping required laser like focus, and he's made progress in his own kind of Santa sack.

"There's diamond earrings and a necklace in there somewhere, I can't find it though...It's all in there just like the big man in red...I'm trying!" Arnold said.

A few stores down, Brigett Gorder was bravely tackling the mall with her kids in tow.

"I don't know if it's brave or crazy!" she said.

Either way, she found a last minute perk!

"We are lucky, we went and had pictures taken with Santa and we didn't have to wait!" said Gorder.

And with enough time for three-year-old Tyson to put in some last minute requests. With that it was nap-time for the Gorder family, but not for Chris Arnold, who still had six presents to buy.

"Are you worried at all? A little bit....I'm just a little tired!" he said.
