Search on for 2 boys who ran away from Mesa group homePosted: Updated:
MESA and CHANDLER, Ariz. -- Police are searching for a Chandler teen and his little brother after the pair ran away from a Mesa group home.
The boys, ages 14 and 10, bolted at about 9:30 a.m. Sunday. They had been at the home less than 24 hours.
According to Sgt. Tony Landato of the Mesa Police Department, Child Protective Services placed the boys in the home near Broadway and Sossaman roads Saturday night, but was not able to provide any salient details about them or their situation.
Landato said the kids' mother had been arrested recently, but no other information was immediately available.
Officers spoke to the boys' grandmother, who lives in Chandler, less than three hours after the boys were reported missing. She told police she saw the kids in the area of Chandler Boulevard and McQueen Road, which is more than 15 miles from the group home, but that they ran as soon as they saw her.
Police have not released descriptions of the boys.
