SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. -- The Cochise County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a body was found in a wash south of Sierra Vista.

Two female hikers located the body Wednesday afternoon and notivied the sheriff's office.

Deputies arrived and discovered a group of rocks forming what appeared to be an arrow pointing toward where the body was found, according to CCSO spokeswoman Carol Capas.

Deputies walked in the direction of the arrow and located a decomposed body. The remains appeared to be that of a male wearing brown work boots, dark jeans and unknown color of shirt.

Deputies recovered evidence from the scene. The remains were transported to the medical examiner's office in Pima County for an autopsy to determine identity and cause of death.
