PHOENIX -- Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton is doing his part to make sure residents of the Valley keep the victims of the shooting in Newtown, Connecticut in their thoughts.
On Saturday, Stanton declared Dec. 15, 2012 a Day of Remembrance and Prayer.
Stanton noted that people in Phoenix are “heartbroken and suffer with survivors and their families,” adding that “we come together as a city and a nation to grieve together, mourn together and find strength together.”
Tragedy struck Sandy Hook Elementary School on Friday afternoon when 20-year-old Adam Lanza killed 26 people and then took his own life.
Twenty of the victims were students at the school.
