MESA, Ariz. -- An early morning chase in Mesa has led to the arrest of two Valley residents.

Police said the Mesa Air Unit began following a white pickup truck early Thursday morning after the driver refused to stop for DPS.

The vehicle traveled east to Apache Junction and then returned to Mesa, running red lights and traveling at a high rate of speed along the way.

The truck came to a stop near Evergreen and Higley, where a passenger was allowed to exit the vehicle.

The passenger, later identified as 18-year-old Daniale Strahan, was apprehended by police.

Authorities said Strahan first provided false information and refused to identify the driver of the truck.

She eventually told police that Daniel Yard was behind the wheel of the vehicle.

Yard wound up stopping the truck near Main Street and Power Road and ran into a house.

Police set up a perimeter around the home, and eventually Yard exited the residence.

A man, woman and an 8-year-old child were also inside the house at the time of Yard’s arrest. The man and woman told police they had been sleeping when Yard came running inside claiming the police were after him.

Yard has been charged with felony flight, theft of means of transportation, and driving on a revoked license.

Strahan was also charged with theft of means of transportation and false reporting to law enforcement.

A mugshot for Yard has not yet been made available.
