Man's body recovered from Grand CanyonPosted: Updated:
GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz. -- Grand Canyon rangers recovered a body from below the South Rim on Saturday.
Grand Canyon National Park's helicopter pilot spotted the body while flying a routine mission, according to park officials. The body was located below the Abyss Overlook on Hermit Road, also known as the West Rim Drive.
The body was determined to be that of a male of undetermined age.
The cause of death is not known at this time.
The body was flown out of the canyon and transported to the Coconino County medical examiner's office.
The National Park Service and medical examiner are conducting an investigation.
