TACNA, Ariz. -- A man lost part of his leg after a suspected pipe bomb explosion in Yuma County.
Sheriff's deputies responded to a call of an injured person at a residence in the 37600 block of East County Eighth St. in Tacna Tuesday night and found a man with severe wounds to his lower legs.
Deputies discovered evidence of an explosion inside a shipping container located on the property, along with other materials used to build pipe bombs, according to Capt. Eben Bratcher with the sheriff's office.
Kobey Coulter, 31, was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix. His injuries resulted in the loss of his left leg below the knee and doctors are working to save his right leg.
Bratcher said the sheriff's office bomb squad served a search warrant Wednesday and found an additional completed pipe bomb and materials used to build pipe bombs.
The bomb squad removed the items and rendered them safe.
Authorities will review the case to determine whether to file charges against Coulter.
