PHOENIX -- We’re seeing an overall shift in the jet stream pattern toward the weekend and early next week. That should bring us some cooler temperatures and some breeziness, but not much in the way of rain or snow.
The system will be approaching from the north and much of the energy will be spent in Colorado and New Mexico, where rain and snow will be more likely. Since we’ll be on the backside of that storm, we won’t see much precipitation in Arizona. What rain and snow we get will most likely be confined to the eastern third of our state.
In the meantime, expect temperatures in the mid 70s for metro Phoenix through Friday. Then we’ll see some clouds and low 70s for the weekend. And by next week, highs will actually be about “average” for this time of year in the upper 60s.
