MCSO: Man arrested in Mesa drug house shootingPosted: Updated:
MESA, Ariz. -- The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said a shooting at a known drug house led to the arrest of a 20-year-old Valley man this week.
Deputies responded to a residence in the area of Broadway and Ellsworth Road on Wednesday afternoon after receiving a report of a shooting.
Deputies arrived to find Bryan Berg, 30, lying in a truck with a gunshot wound to one of his legs.
Neighbors told deputies that several people had fled the area in multiple directions, but that there might still be someone in the home.
MCSO’s Tactical Operations Unit searched the house, but no one was found inside.
Deputies, however, were able to locate five individuals in different areas near the home.
During the course of the investigation it was learned that Berg had driven to the home and started a confrontation with Lucas Orf.
Orf reportedly fired one shot from an unknown firearm into the ground, and then another at Berg’s leg.
Detectives learned that drug activities had been taking place at the home, but they’re not sure if Berg and Orf’s dispute was over drugs.
Orf was arrested for several outstanding warrants and booked into jail Thursday night. MCSO said he was on probation and prohibited from handling a firearm.
Detectives continue to investigate Wednesday’s shooting, but MCSO said Orf will likely face additional charges for his alleged role in the incident.
