PHOENIX – This holiday season, get ready to follow the Yellow Brick Road to find some gingerbread house magic.

The JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort and Spa is hosting its annual Gingerbread Village display, and this year the theme is “The Wonderland of Oz.”

This is Arizona's largest gingerbread village, and consists of 20 handmade gingerbread houses. It took the resort’s pastry team more than 800 hours to craft the glistening masterpiece, which features scenes like Munchkinland, the Haunted Forest, and, of course, Emerald City.

The fantastical display measures 40 feet by 20 feet. It’s made from 800 pounds of gingerbread dough, 250 pounds of chocolate and 250 pounds of goodies like hard candy, gumdrops, M&Ms and cookies.

Peer into the remarkable village and you’ll find Dorothy and her cohorts the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion. And you can’t miss the Wicked Witch of the West and her army of flying monkeys.

Dorothy and other characters will be making special live appearances at the Gingerbread Village throughout the holidays.

The display is located inside the grand lobby of the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort. The resort  is located at 5350 E. Marriott Drive in Phoenix, between Tatum and 56th Street, just north of Deer Valley.

The event is free.

It’s open to the public from now until January 6.
