Yoga for GolfersPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- It's that time of year when the sun shines, the temperature is perfect and the golfers are hitting the links, trying to top their games from last year.
If you didn't get out much during the summer, you know how your golf muscles can be really tight. Have you ever tried the Half-Cow Pose? Yes, we're talking yoga for golfers and it's the real deal.
You can take yoga classes at Boccieri Golf in Scottsdale on the Greenway-Hayden Loop just east of Scottsdale Road.
Yoga for Golfers founder Katherine Roberts has been teaching yoga for years and says it has numerous benefits including stretching, strengthening, and balancing your body for getting the best swing for your game.
"Essentially, what you need to play good golf is what you experience with yoga," she said. "One of the main things that we teach is breathing. ... The fastest way to quiet your mind if through your breath."
There are dozens of poses you can try at home or at the course before you take the tee box.
Heck, maybe it will even help your mind because sometimes your mind is the toughest opponent on the course.
