PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) -- Prescott city councilors are expected to decide whether to officially rename one famous block in the heart of the city as "Historic Whiskey Row."
Once lined with saloons, Montezuma Street has been informally known as Whiskey Row for much of the past century.
The Daily Courier reports that the city council will take up the renaming petition during Tuesday's meeting.
The Whiskey Row matter first went to the council in September, when businessman Dave Michelson presented a petition that asked the city to change the name.
Supporters have said the name change would help conjure up Prescott's Old West heritage.
Other business owners argue that signs already designate the one-block area as Whiskey Row. They question the expense involved in officially changing their addresses on legal documents and mail.
