TEMPE, Ariz. -- A Tempe man is accused of killing his roommate's dog.

David Nathaniel Goodrich, 25, was arrested Saturday afternoon at his home near Southern and Mill avenues. He faces a felony count of animal cruelty.

The dog's owner came home to find Goodrich cleaning blood off the floor, according to court documents.

Police said Goodrich admitted to accidentally stepping on the dog's head. He said he "freaked out" when he realized the dog was dead.

Goodrich allegedly tried to dispose of the dog's body and all the evidence.

Police said Goodrich changed his story several times.

The dog's body has not been found.
