Suspect in deadly Phoenix shooting identified, on the loose

PHOENIX -- Police have identified the suspect in a deadly shooting that happened over the weekend.

It at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday near 75th Avenue and Thomas Road in Phoenix.

A meeting apparently went very wrong, ending with a man shot dead in the street.

Police identified the victim as George Nunez, 20. According to Nunez's girlfriend, he was meeting with somebody before bullets started flying.

Officers detained a man they saw fleeing the scene, but it's not clear how he was involved.

Police on Tuesday released a photo of the suspect, now identified as Samuel Ramon Valenzuela.

Investigators have not said how Nunez and Valenzuela were connected.

According to Sgt. Steve Martos of the Phoenix Police Department, Valenzuela is still on the loose. Officers are turning to the public for help locating him.
