PHOENIX -- We talk a lot about how much rain has fallen at Sky Harbor Airport during a given year.

For instance, as of right now, we've had 3.74 inches of rain at the airport so far in 2012. That’s slightly more than half of our average for this far into the year. We’re definitely going to end 2012 with a rainfall deficit.

But here’s another way of looking at it. We’ve had only 21 days this year with measurable rain, and this is day 317 of the year.  We’ve had rain on only about seven percent of the days in Phoenix. Yes, it’s a desert. And it’s a desert in a drought.

But, on any given day, without any knowledge at all, and without looking at a map or a satellite picture or a weather model, you could predict “No rain tomorrow,” and you would have a 93 percent chance of being correct.

As for the current forecast, the sunny and mild weather will continue into the weekend with no rain and fairly mild temperatures
