WALKER, Ariz. -- Detectives from the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office are investigating an apparent arson fire and a burglary at a home in Walker, Ariz.
Sheriff's deputies responded to a reported structure fire in the 3000 block of East Walker Road at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 15.
One of the residents had just arrived at the house and saw smoke coming from the unoccupied structure, according to YCSO spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn.
Personnel from the Walker and Prescott fire departments eventually extinguished the fire.
The initial determination indicated the fire was non-criminal, but investigators now say the fire's origin is suspicious.
D'Evelyn said it appears a burglary occurred at the same residence sometime between the evening of Oct. 18 and the early morning hours of Oct. 19.
Detectives are trying to determine if the incidents are related.
