Police search for man who tried to sexually assault ASU student

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Tempe police said someone tried to sexually assault an Arizona State University student early Wednesday morning.

Police have released a sketch of the suspect.

Investigators said the man entered the 19-year-old woman's apartment in the 900 block of South Terrace Road near Rural Road and University Drive around 3 a.m.

He attacked her, but she was able to fight him off and run from the apartment.

Police said the victim did not know the suspect.

The suspect is described as Hispanic, 5 feet 5 inches tall, late 40s to early 50s with a chubby build. He was wearing a red T-shirt with black writing and long shorts that covered his knees.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call Tempe police at 480-350-8311 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS. Submit a a tip anonymously at www.silentwitness.org. A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the suspect.
