PHOENIX -- A Maricopa County sheriff's deputy has been arrested for aggravated assault.

Timothy Abrahamson, 41, was taken into custody Wednesday without incident and booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail.

MCSO officials said Abrahamson was arrested on a North Dakota warrant for a charge of aggravated assault stemming from an incident in Cass County in September. No further information was released.

He will be held in protective custody, which is standard procedure for any law enforcement, until his extradition to North Dakota.

Abrahamson has been an MCSO deputy for seven years.
