SUN CITY, Ariz. -- A Peoria woman is accused of running a prostitution business out of her Sun City massage parlor.

Deborah A. Schmidt, 39, was arrested late Tuesday night and faces charges of maintaining a house of prostitution, receiving earnings of a prostitute and illegal control of an enterprise.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office initiated an investigation after receiving a complaint about employees at a massage parlor near 103rd and Grand avenues performing sexual acts for money.

During the investigation, an undercover detective went to the business to get a massage. After 25 minutes, the employee offered to perform sex acts in exchange for various amounts of money, according to court documents.

Detectives then entered the business and spoke to two employees. They said Schmidt hired them and taught them how to set prices for each customer. They said to make extra money they could perform sex acts, according to the documents.

The employees said Schmidt received a share of the money and also worked as a prostitute at the business.

Schmidt denied knowing about sexual acts being performed for money at her business.
