BUCKEYE, Ariz. -- A Valley man has been charged with murder for allegedly killing his father and stepmother.

Buckeye Police said Elwood Moreno, 33, was arrested Saturday on two counts of first-degree murder.

Police said evidence collected during their investigation and a confession from Moreno led to the arrest.

Authorities first came across Moreno last Sunday morning after he crashed his car in the area of Yuma and Rainbow roads.

Moreno, who had reportedly been traveling at speeds close to 100 mph, was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police went to Moreno’s last known address to notify his family, which is when they discovered that Moreno’s father and stepmother had been stabbed multiple times.

Moreno was first considered an investigative lead in the case.

He is now behind bars at the 4th Ave. Jail.
