Border agents arrest sex offender, seize marijuanaPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Agents with the Tucson Sector Border Patrol arrested multiple sex offenders and seized more than 1,600 pounds of marijuana this week.
Eduardo Morales, 38, was one of four people arrested with a history of sexual crimes. Morales, who is from Tlalnepantla, Mexico, was convicted in California in 2009 of having sex with a child.
Records show Morales had recently been removed from the U.S. through California.
Agents also had a successful week locating and seizing marijuana.
On Wednesday, Wilcox station agents seized 171 pounds of marijuana from a vehicle at the State Route 80 checkpoint.
On Monday, agents found 396 pounds of abandoned marijuana east of Nogales, as well as 1,124 pounds of marijuana in an abandoned vehicle near Federal Route 34.
The marijuana seized by agents this week had a combined estimated value of $845,000.
