PHOENIX (AP) -- Authorities say more than 35,000 students in Arizona will take part in a multistate earthquake drill.
The drill is scheduled for 10:18 a.m. Thursday.
People in California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington also will participate in the drill.
The Arizona Geological Survey says the state experiences hundreds of earthquakes each year.
Most earthquakes in Arizona go unfelt, but authorities say the state has the potential for a large magnitude quake.
The state's largest earthquakes in 2011 occurred near Clarkdale.
The Arizona Geological Survey says faults in Arizona and surrounding areas are capable of earthquakes up to magnitude 7.5 that could cause strong ground shaking across Arizona.
