Toddler hospitalized after dogs attack in Maricopa

MARICOPA, Ariz. -- A child is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries following a dog attack.
According to officials with the Maricopa Police Department the toddler was attacked by two dogs.
The victim and his older brother were being cared for by a family friend at the time of the incident.
The dogs had been locked in a bedroom when the babysitter opened the door to retrieve an item. The canines exited the bedroom and immediately began to attack the toddler who was sitting on the living room floor with his older brother.
Less than a minute later, the babysitter made it to the living room to stop the attack.
The child sustained life-threatening injures and was immediately transported to a hospital for treatment.
The canines were turned over to Pinal County Animal Control for quarantine.
Police have not released the names of the people involved.
