Man charged in stabbing death, assault in KayentaPosted: Updated:
KAYENTA, Ariz. (AP) -- A Chinle man told authorities that he repeatedly stabbed another man in the stomach after getting an eerie feeling that he was going to get jumped.
But Franklin Tristan Craig says he was unaware that he had stabbed a second man on Oct. 4 at a home in Kayenta on the Navajo Nation.
One of the men died, and now Craig is facing a second-degree murder charge and as well as an assault charge involving the other man.
The FBI declined to release the identities of the victims Friday but say they are a 65-year-old father, who died, and his 22-year-old son.
Craig is scheduled for a detention and preliminary hearing Wednesday in U.S. Magistrate Court in Flagstaff.
A public defender assigned to him was unavailable late Friday.
