High-profile criminal cases making headlinesPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Three very high-profile criminal cases playing out in downtown Phoenix are grabbing a lot of headlines these days.
One is the increasingly bizarre case of Michael Lee Crane, the 32-year-old ex-con charged in a pair of brutal home invasion robbers, murders and arsons that left three people dead.
The other two cases involve Valley moms and their missing children.
Jerice Hunter was arrested by Glendale police last month and charged with the grisly, torture-like murder of her 5-year-old daughter Jhesseye Shockley.
And in another courtroom, 26-year-old Tempe mom Elizabeth Johnson is on trial charged with kidnapping her 8-month-old son -- a child now known around the world as "missing Baby Gabriel.
Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery is in charge of the three prosecutions and during a news conference on Wednesday morning Montgomery talked about the highly-publicized cases and the challenges for prosecutors.
