TUCSON, Ariz. – Sonoita Border Patrol agents discovered ancient artifacts while patrolling in the rugged Patagonia Mountains in Southern Arizona last week. Agents patrolling on foot south of Patagonia found an intact ancient pot and a piece of another, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Both items were made of clay and appeared weathered. Agents notified U.S. Forest Service officials who took the artifacts for further study. After initial inspection, the Forest Service believes the pot could date back as much as 1,000 years.
