Phoenix weather: Cool-down beginsPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- A much-awaited cool-down begins today for Arizona. For the first time in days, the Valley is not expected to warm to the triple-digits this afternoon.
After a nice morning in the 60s and 70s, the Valley will warm to a high of about 98 degrees today.
The ridge of high pressure sitting over the Southwest is losing strength as several weather systems passing to our north flatten the ridge a bit. We'll see some high clouds from time to time, but Arizona is expected to stay dry with temperatures that continue to gradually drop.
By the weekend, temperatures are expected to be near-normal for this time of year, with Valley highs in the mid 90s and in the 60s and 70s in the high country.
By early next week, a more dramatic drop in temperatures is expected, with a slight chance of rain in the high country. Valley highs could drop to the mid 80s by Wednesday.
