PIMA COUNTY, Ariz. -- A convicted felon who was suspected in several burglaries and an attack on an elderly man was shot and killed by law enforcement in the Las Vegas area.

Thomas Lars Domagala was suspected of being involved in numerous crimes since his release from prison in March. He was wanted by the Pima County Sheriff's Department for his alleged involvement in at least six different burglaries since July.

In early September, Domagala broke into a residence and attempted to steal the homeowner's car, according to the sheriff's department. The male victim, who is in his 80s, confronted the suspect and Domagala reportedly pistol-whipped him, causing serious injuries.

After requesting public assistance in locating Domagala, the Pima County Sheriff's Department received a tip about him possibly being in Las Vegas, officials said Wednesday.

Domagala was located in the North Las Vegas area and local authorities attempted to take him into custody.

The preliminary investigation indicates that members of a multi-jurisdictional task force, led by the U.S. Marshals Service, attempted to stop a vehicle that Domagala occupied. After a short vehicle pursuit, Domagala fled on foot.

There was an encounter between a task force member and Domagala a short distance from the vehicle during which Domagala was shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two women who were with Domagala at the time of this incident were taken into custody by police. Both women were arrested and booked into the Las Vegas City Jail for a variety of charges related to this incident.
