Phoenix weather: Cooler weather arrivesPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- A storm system passing to our north is ushering in a cool change for Arizona's weather.
In the Valley, triple-digit heat came to an end -- at least for now -- on Monday.
Today, look for a high of only 98 degrees under mostly sunny skies.
Afternoon highs will fall off a few more degrees over the next couple of afternoons under mostly sunny skies. Overnight lows will also come down. Under mostly clear skies, look for in-town lows in the low 70s, with outlying areas seeing upper 60s.
The weekend brings low 90s for highs and low 70s for lows, but also a slight chance of showers.
Hurricane Miriam is moving toward the Baja Peninsula in the Pacific, and may push a surge of moisture toward Arizona this weekend. There's a good chance that moisture could miss Arizona and push east, so for now, we are forecasting just a slight chance of showers Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
