TUCSON, Ariz. -- All five of the Pima County corrections officers who were arrested on felony assault charges for their alleged involvement at a recent bar fight in Tucson have been terminated.

Tucson police said the assault occurred on Sept. 19 when a man attempted to lock his bicycle outside the Buffet Bar. One of the assailants punched the man, who then sought help.

When the victim returned with another man, they were confronted by the five suspects who began punching and kicking them, according to police.

At one point, a neighbor and his 17-year-old son tried to intervene and they were attacked.

One man was treated at a hospital for serious injuries.

Police arrested Anthony Bonfiglio, Angel Castaneda, Matthew Garcia, Steven Haglund and John Hyatt. They were off duty at the time of the bar fight.

The five officers were arrested on felony assault charges and booked into the Pima County Jail.

"The criminal conduct and behavior of the involved Corrections Officers is shocking and reprehensible," Pima County Sheriff's Department officials said in a media release.

After further investigation, the sheriff's department now has a total of 10 corrections officers currently on administrative leave, officials said Sept. 20. Castaneda and Haglund were terminated for failure to meet probationary standards with the department.

The sheriff's department said the other three were terminated on Thursday.
