PHOENIX -- A man was arrested Thursday morning after allegedly walking around a Phoenix neighborhood waving a rifle.

Police responded to the area of 15th Avenue and Broadway after a person called 9-1-1 claiming the suspect, Johnny Garcia, had pointed a gun at them.

When officers arrived, Garcia reportedly claimed that there were two bodies inside a home, as well as explosives.

Garcia tried to hide when police told him to put down his gun, but he was apprehended and taken into custody.

“Some of our officers actually saw him with the gun, and he apparently had aimed the gun at some of those individuals, those officers. Fortunately, peacefully and safely we were able take him into custody,” said Sgt. Tommy Thompson with the Phoenix Police Department.

No shots were fired during the incident, and no bodies or explosives were located.
