GRAND CANYON, Ariz. -- Motorists on State Route 64 near milepost 232 got a rather unexpected surprise on Sunday afternoon.

DPS officers responded after a plane had to make an emergency landing on the road.

The plane was blocking both lanes, and was eventually towed to the Grand Canyon Airport.

No one was injured during the landing, and nothing was damaged.

It’s not yet known why the pilot had to make an emergency landing.
