YUMA, Ariz. -- Yuma Police arrested two people early Sunday morning on multiple felony charges following a shooting at a local bar.

Cesar Covarrubias, 21, and Alex Renteria, 20, have been booked into the Yuma County Detention Center on multiple counts of attempted second-degree murder and other charges.

According to police, Covarrubias and Renteria were outside Fat Harvey’s Bar when they reportedly fired several shots into the air and claimed to be part of a local street gang.

The pair left the area, but returned moments later and fired several more rounds at a group of people at the bar.

A vehicle was hit by the gunfire, and a possible ricochet fragment struck a woman standing in the area. Her injuries are said to be non-life threatening.

Officers located Covarrubias and Renteria’s car a short time later and placed them under arrest.

Investigators are still seeking more information about the incident, and ask anyone with any information to call the Yuma Police Department’s Gang Enforcement Unit at 928-373-4700.
