Former employee arrested in Prescott Verizon store robberyPosted: Updated:
PRESCOTT, Ariz. -- A former employee is accused of robbing a Verizon store in Prescott last week and police said he robbed the same store in August.
A man wearing a Halloween mask went into the store on Gail Gardner Way Friday afternoon, walked behind the service counter and took money out of the cash register, according to Prescott police spokesman Lt. Ken Morley.
He was confronted by a female employee and told her he was robbing them.
The suspect ran out of the store with the money and headed southbound across Iron Springs Road.
The mask was described as a plastic, full face, brown and red Halloween-type mask with two eye holes and small slits near the nose and mouth area.
Police investigators identified Nicholas Allen Lackey, 21, of Prescott, as the suspect in the robbery. He is a former employee of the store. Lackey was arrested over the weekend and booked into Yavapai County Jail in Camp Verde. He was charged with robbery and burglary.
The investigators also linked Lackey to an Aug. 20 burglary at the same Verizon store.
A second suspect who police said assisted Lackey in the first burglary was arrested at his home in Prescott Tuesday morning. He is identified as Matt Eisenberg, 20. He was questioned and later booked into Yavapai County Jail.
