Tutu Tuesday raises money to fight cancer

Posted: Updated:

Tutu Tuesday: Be part of Tutu Tuesday, and help Mesa Arts Center (MAC) compose the largest gathering of people in tutus. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and Mesa Arts Center is hosting Tutu Tuesday in an attempt to raise funds for the American Cancer Society for breast cancer research. MAC will be selling pre-made tutus for $20 and offering photo opportunities for you and your friends in tutus with the donation price of $10, additional donations will be accepted. Tutu Tuesday will be held in conjunction with Bob Carey's exhibition at Mesa Contemporary Arts, titled Ballerina, photographs by Bob Carey; the exhibition is a selection of photographs by photographer Bob Carey wearing his pink tutu in various locations across the world to raise awareness for breast cancer research. Bob Carey is scheduled to be on hand at Tutu Tuesday promoting his adventures in pink.

Ballerina:  Ballerina stems from Bob Carey's body of work called The Tutu Project, which humorously depicts the tutu clad artist in playful predicaments and scenarios. The project began 10 years ago, when Carey and his wife moved from Arizona to New York. Six months later, Carey's wife was diagnosed with breast cancer, and the photographs have taken on a new identity and become a visual anthem for the fight against this devastating disease.
