SURPRISE -- A 14-year-old girl and her 48-year-old mother were air-lifted to local hospitals after a dump truck T-boned their small SUV.

It happened just after 7 a.m. at Greenway Road and Parkview Place, which is between Reems Road and Bullard Avenue in Surprise.

Aerial video showed one of the medical helicopters lifting off bound for Phoenix Children's Hospital. It also showed the wrecked SUV. The impact by the dump truck pushed it on to the corner of the sidewalk.

The conditions of the two patients were not immediately available, but police said their injuries were not life-threatening.

The man who was behind the wheel of the dump truck was not injured.

Investigators are trying to piece together the moments leading up to the crash. At this point, police have not issued any citations in connection with the wreck.

"The City of Surprise Police Department would like to remind drivers to use caution when approaching and entering all intersections," wrote Sgt. Mike Donovan in an email to media outlets.
